Service News - Service Problems?
The original purpose of this page was to give Subscribers advance warning of planned maintenance etc, which would cause a temporary loss of service. However, we now issue this advice by direct email to avoid the need for Subscribers to consult this page. More rarely, this page may be used to brief Subscribers about other loss of service issues - the use of a “Flash” header on our home page will normally indicate if any specially urgent news is to be found here. In the first instance, telephone enquiries about service matters may be directed to:-

Dial-up as a back-up
If your use of email and/or the internet is ‘time critical’, we suggest that you consider having a dial-up access service (pay-as-you-go?) available as an alternative. Although we try very hard to provide a 24/7/365+ connection, we know that we don’t quite succeed - and sometimes you really do need to get that email out (or in)! One additional advantage of having dial-up access is that when we have a real problem with the village network, we try to send out a ‘round robin’ email (which you can receive via dial-up) to keep you informed.
Get Involved - Become a Member of GAB Community Interest Company
Although subscribers may choose whether or not to become Members of the Company, we hope that you will decide to do so - indeed, we hope that all our subscribers will want to participate in the governance of the company.
So why become a Member? To get the right to attend and vote at General Meetings, and to elect the Directors.
Do I have to? No, you can just subscribe to the service. But in this case, you have no vote at any formal GAB meetings.
The “down-side”? You have to promise to pay £1 towards our debts {if any} if ever we are wound up. To apply to become a Member, just complete the necessary form {on the Resources page}.
